Valuable Connections for Capital Providers Via the Hub
The California Building Performance Hub (“the Hub”) is a web-based resource developed by USGBC California for building owners, service providers, and others interested in tracking and improving the performance of their buildings. To support building retrofit projects, USGBC-CA is developing a Directory of Capital Providers for the Hub.
We created this Request for Information (RFI) to determine Capital Providers' interest in being listed in this directory and to collect information about financial products relevant to these types of clean energy building retrofits.
After you submit this form, USGBC-CA will contact you to better understand your products and ideal customers. We will not make any RFI information public without the Capital Provider's prior approval.
The deadline for this RFI is October 23, 2026. We will be holding a virtual info session on September 29 (registration link coming soon). Info session attendance is not required – a recording will be made available.
What This Directory Offers
California building owners who are motivated to improve building energy efficiency, add solar and storage, or upgrade to electric systems face several challenges, but the biggest barrier may be the upfront cost of these upgrades.
While incentives are available for many buildings for many of these projects, this landscape is ever-shifting and the funds usually aren’t available until after the project is completed. And even where the asset is cash flow positive, and the project has a reasonable payback period, there often are not enough in reserves to cover the upfront costs.
This Directory of Capital Providers will offer building owners and their representatives a way to filter and compare lenders that are most likely to match their project needs, saving them time and effort, while providing Capital Providers with incoming leads for the types of projects they are looking to fund.

The Ask
Capital providers interested in funding clean energy building retrofit projects in California, especially for large multifamily and commercial buildings, should complete the RFI by October 23, 2026.
Please complete as much of the RFI as you can. We will follow up with respondents to share more details about the Directory and align on what information can be shared publicly with building owners.
